Evaluations Result for Students in Kampung Ugo, Distrik Kombay, Boven Digoel Regency   In my list of all the students in adult class, there were 50 people, and 16 people of them had already good enough in reading, 1 of them (from 16 people) had never come to study and just came when evaluation time, and 1 of them had moved to another village. And from all of those 50 people, 8 people started attending the class in the last month of the programme and 9 people never attended the class since the first time I came to that village. While 50 people in the data should join the class, 33 people joined the class and they did not always attend the class. Only some of them who always came to the class to learn (it could be proven by the list of the absence). 8 people who came to learn in the last month of the programme just attended the class for once or twice. Based on the absence of the diligence to learn (from 16 people), 10 people could read, 6 others sometimes came to learn...

Chapter 5 Approaching the end of September 2019, I just knew if I could get a phone signal in Ugo, but I had to climb to the highest hill and climb a high tree around 15 to 20 meters. After that, I always tried to get information about the evaluation’s time and the program closing time by climbing the hill and tree to get the signals. Then, I got information from my partner, Anderias Baga who taught in Wanggemalo Village that the evaluation would be postponed from October to November 2019. When I wanted to teach the students, I boiled water to make coffee for adult students, but the pan was too slippery, and I was flushed with hot water, from my thigh to my ankle. Then, I had to go to the Regency to get treatment. When I felt that I was cured, I returned back to Ugo, but the river subsided which made me use another transportation. I used a small plane to Bomakia District and a motorcycle from Bomakia to Wanggemalo. In Wanggemalo, I had to spend the night and continue the trip...

Chapter 4 On July 11 th , 2019, I, Mrs. Neila G.M Mamahit (My Programme Manager), Fredrik (My Field Leader), Mr. Mulyawan (GKI Samanhudi), Sister Annette Romauli Sitorus (Audit Team), Daniel Subyakto, Alloisius Kalli, went to Manggelum District before we went to Kombay District. On the way to Manggelum, the river was so subsided, so we had to pull and push the Viber boat so that we could pass the stream even though it was a shallow but torrential river. At that time, the rope of the Viber boat fell to the river, and it made me worried if the rope struck the propeller. Then, I jumped to take the rope, but the stream was more torrential than I thought. It made me almost sink and enter into the stream in my condition which was still in recovery time. After we passed that situation, we arrived in Manggelum District and met our partner Paulus Koba Kole who did his duty there. Then we spent the night there. The next day, we continued the trip to Bayanggop Village (Manggelum District) a...

Chapter 3 In early year, on January 14 th , 2019, I planned to start the class, but there was a villager who passed away, and it made me postpone the class. So, we started the class on January 21 st , 2019. Then, on February 18 th , 2019, I went to the Regency to buy some logistics. At that time, I met Fredrik, and the manse where I had to stay was in renovation, so we had to move and find a new boarding house, and we got it behind the GKI’s Office “Gereja Kristen Indonesia” . After that, I returned to the village and started the class on March 4 th , 2019. On March 31 st , 2019, I went to the Regency again to buy some logistics and I met Fredrik again. The next day, there was a serious conflict between a Papuan local tribe and one of the settlers’ tribes, and it was related to our landlord. So, that night we had to sleep in the house of GKI’s treasurer together with Priest Jimmy Mosse who lived in front of our boarding house. The next day, on April 2 nd , 2019, we tried to...

Chapter 2 When we arrived in Ugo Village, I was grateful to the society that responded to me very well there. The next day, my field leader held a meeting with the tutors whom we recruited, they were Mr. Amsal Dedemu as a tutor in Children Class and also a teacher at school, Mr. Tinus Namburemba as a tutor in the adult class, and a Priest, Mr. Agus Seharumba as a tutor in the adult class and also as the area coordinator in this place. I learned to handle the tutor’s manner from that meeting. After that, Fredrik returned back to Manggelum District where he did his main duty and I started to do my activities in this village. First of all, I walked around the village to know the situation and condition in that place. There was no electricity in each house. There were only 3 houses that used solar cells including the place where I lived, but they had broken. So, I lived in a place without electricity at all. Besides, there was no public toilet or even private toilet in each house. And ...
